Bob Stone's "The ABC’s of Ethical Leadership" Seminar Held in USAK
Date: 25.03.2011

On 23 March 2011, the distinguished speaker Bob Stone gave a seminar in USAK House on "The ABC’s of Ethical Leadership". The ABC’s of Ethical Leadership are actually authenticity, buoyancy and conviction. These three characteristics must be possessed in order to be a good, ethical leader.

According to Mr. Stone "Authenticity is being yourself" and in order to be a good leader "you have o be authentic you’ve got to show people that it is OK not to know everything.

Wonderful concept for a leader is "buoyancy ", which has different meanings such as: resilience, bounce, light heartedness, encouragement, unthinkable-ness etc. In order to be buoyant, a leader must also be: bold, pleasant, trusting, uplifting and positive.

"Conviction" starts with being clear and that means to communicate using short statements and principles or how Mr. Stone calls it "wallet-size cards of rule". A leader also has to be unreasonable and fanatic about his work. The most important thing, however, is to be controlling and not allow people to violate him.

Mr. Stone explained the organizational ethics, the ethics for leaders and the ethics for subordinates, however, his view of ethics is that compliance with laws and rules is only a start. "Apply ethical principles to every decision you make" is his suggestion and idea of ethical leadership.

At the end of seminar participants enjoyed in Q-A Session.
