USAK Welcomed the Air War College

The Air War College, part of the United States Air Force's Air University and headquartered at Maxwell Air Force Base in Montgomery, Alabama, has visited USAK House with its distinguished members.

USAK Vice President Mehmet Tiraş, Center for Eurasian Studies expert Habibe Özdal, Center for American Studies expert Mehmet Yegin, Center for Middle Eastern and African Studies expert Ali Hüseyin Bakir, Center for Energy Security Studies expert Hasan Selim Özertem, Center for Social Studies expert Dilek Karal and Center for European Union Studies expert Mustafa Kutlay attended the meeting, which was directed by Center for Eurasian Studies expert Dr. Güner Özkan and lasted for one hour.

Topics discussed during the meeting were the U.S.-Turkish relations envisioned for the future, Turkey’s EU accession efforts, Turkish police and military affairs, Turkish foreign policy and the Turkish economy. Also, matters concerning the Afghanistan and Iraq wars were on the table and the dynamics of the successful policies of the Turkish Army in Afghanistan were evaluated.

In addition to issues on the agenda, an USAK report on “Violence Against Women in Turkey” was discussed and USAK Center for Social Studies expert Dilek Karal answered the relevant questions.

Dr. Arzu Celalifer Ekinci is working as a Middle East and Iranian Affairs expert at International Strategic Research Organization (USAK), Centre for Middle East and African Studies and she is the assisting editor of "Review of International Law and Politics” at the same time. Beside this, she writes comments and articles to her columns both in "Journal of Turkish Weekly” and "Usak Startejik Gündem”.
 Ihsan BAL
İhsan Bal, academic and author, is a Turkish specialist on the political science, with particular reference to security and terrorism. Prof. Dr. İhsan Bal is the director of the USAK Centre for International Security, Ethnic Studies and Terrorism, Ankara.
 Nuray OZKAN
Nuray Özkan is librarian at the USAK Library.
