Strategic knowledge production and
making educated policy advice have
turned out to be one of the most
vital problematiqués of our
globalized world. The think tanks
and/or strategy institutions, in
this regard, have increased their
influence over the last three
decades not only in the US, but also
in the European Union (EU) Member
States. Yet, there occurs three
major problems regarding the issue
from the EU’s point of view. First
of all, there has not been
established a systematic education
curriculum in training the
strategists. Secondly, the
experiences and the expertise that
the think tanks develop mainly stay
at the local level and cannot be
transferred to the European scale.
Moreover, the dominant way of
knowledge production in the European
level is the imitation of the
American approach to domestic and
foreign policy analysis to a
considerable extent. Finally, there
is not adequate cooperation and
expertise sharing among the think
tanks throughout the EU in general
and the Eastern Europe in particular.
In this context, the aim of “Facing
the Challenges of Policy Research
through Training Strategists in
Europe” Project is to contribute to
the solution of the above-mentioned
three problems of European think
tank industry by developing and
education module that draws the
framework of training strategists
for the future of the EU. |
